Whether you have a small business or a large corporation if you issue a lot of checks you will need a check stub template for each type of check that you issue. A check stub allows a written record for both you and the recipient to keep for the purpose of keeping your records straight and as proof that your records are correct. In the case of payroll a check stub template will keep a written record of an employee’s gross earning, net pay and each deduction that has been taken out. It also offers your employee an ongoing record of what he has been paid year to date and how much in deductions have been taken out.
Keep in mind that if you have a payroll it makes good business sense to have a check stub template by which to provide a pay check stub for your employees. In this case a generic template is all that is necessary, as it only needs to show the check number, the day it was issued, what it was issued for and how much it is. This is a very simple template that is easy to find and use.
Payroll templates are a bit more complicated, and what you need will depend on a lot of things, what state you live in for one and what other deductions you take out on a regular basis for another. Finding the appropriate template in this case means finding a site on the Internet that either offers a check stub template by the individual state or finding a site that allows you to put in your own custom fields so you can make your own template from one of their or from scratch.
Finding a check stub template is not hard, there are hundreds of sites online that offer these either for free or for a small fee. Your other option is to find a program that offers you templates but they will not be as flexible and the program may be expensive if all you need is a single template.
